Hi and Thank you for joining me “In The Spotlight”.

In today’s episode I have a real treat for you all!
Matty from Tennis System!

Hi Matty and welcome to “In the Spotlight”
I have been a fan of yours ever since I heard your music on Claire Marshall’s Youtube channel, so this is extra special for me

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you! I appreciate you liking my music and supporting for so many years!

1, When and How was Tennis System created?

I started Tennis System in 2008 in Washington, DC. My other band had split up, but I wanted to keep making music. I wrote a few more songs, kept some from that project, and started Tennis System. I named it after the Lilys song “The Tennis System and it’s Stars”

2, “Such a Drag” will probably always be a summer fave of mine, what are you working on now?

Ah, thank you so much! I remember when we wrote that one. We knew then it was special. It’s really amazing that it still has an impact on people, almost ten years later.

At the top of 2020, I had started writing new songs(Truth Hurts & Summer Sweater), but the pandemic hit and I had lost any desire to continue making music. Fast forward to October and I was talking with my friend Chadwick (Hundredth) about the songs and he suggested coming to South Carolina to make the record. So I jetted down there and made ‘Autophobia’ just him and I. It was my first time ever making an album, not only without a band, but without all the songs written. It was an amazing experience and I’m stoked on this release!

3, “Bring Earplugs” Do you have any shows planned this summer if Covid restrictions allow it?

None for this summer, but definitely later in the year. Keep your eyes out for those!

4, What is the one thing you would like to tell your fans?

I’d tell them thank you for believing in me and supporting Tennis System. Also that I am very excited for them to hear “Autophobia” because it’s my best record, yet!

5, What is the one thing you would like to tell the Music Industry?

There’s nothing I’d like to say to them.

Thank you so much for doing this, and I can’t wait to hear what you come up with next!

Are you kidding?? Thank you for the opportunity and your support.

Thank you again!
Matty
