In the spotlight with Lewca

He is in your face and he ain’t moving
Today “In the spotlight” I give you Lewca!

Hi and thank you for hanging with us today.

Awesome man, my pleasure.

Why music?

Because it’s cheap basically, I’ve always made stuff, I painted for a decade or so, then did a few installations, then film, also, as I’ve been randomly screaming at parties all my life so music just seemed like a natural fit…

Where do you find your inspiration?

My everyday life, I come up with my toplines in the car mostly, it drives the kids nuts.

Describe your music with 3 words.

“Punky genre blender”

Your style is somewhat “in your face” . Where does that come from?

I was a shy kid, but getting beaten up a few times in Brixton, then moving to the south of France & getting beaten up there taught me to how to project confidence & strength to de-escalate situations, I guess it stuck.

Which is your “dream stage”?

Anywhere outdoors where they let you smoke

What are you working on now and what can we expect from it?

I have an album out in December “Friday Night Rockstar” that will be followed by another “Boombap for Boomers” sometime in 2023, it’s more or less a double album really as all the songs came from the same sessions, with my partner in crime S.O.A.P. we basically locked ourselves in a basement two days a week for six months and recorded thirty odd songs… John Michie chipped in a few guitar parts, it was cool.

Any plans for the future?

I will be doing the promo for the two albums, then focusing on gigging for the next year or so, I have a 3 year time frame to break even as my oldest son will be off to uni in three / four years and any extra cash I have now will be gobbled up by his studies, damn these smart kids… so it’s make or break time I guess.

What is the one thing you would like your Fans to know?

It’s ok to be mediocre, no one is perfect, we can’t all be gods & heroes. The only thing that we must strive to do is live with passion.

What is the one thing you would like to tell the Music industry?

You lot should take more drugs.

And that was my chat with Lewca and I have to say that some of these answers made me laugh. I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have. Don’t forget to keep your eyes out for his new album in December, I will for sure!
