To write an interview is to get someone’s story, a bit of their journey and see life through their eyes, and that is why I Love writing them. Today I have the Huge honor to introduce you to Carrie Cleveland.
Thank you so much for taking this time to chat with us.
What is your first memory of listening to music and realizing that this was your dream?
Well when I was young we always got together and sung. I didn’t think much of it until I married my husband Bill Cleveland. He started me singing and after we made our album I started to think. After he died I got tired because of all the discrimination of a woman band leader. 5 years ago my son Heston found that they were selling my music online and it started from there I just do what he say LOL.
Who was/is your biggest inspiration?
My husband was my biggest inspiration but the people I follow were Diana Ross, Marilyn McCoo, Dionne Warwick. Over the years what in your opinion has been the biggest change in music as an artist but also considering the fans and the industry change? Music has changed so much you can make a whole album without even knowing how to play an instrument. As far as the fans nothing much has changed they like who they like I’m blessed that they still like me. The music industry has changed because of all the Independent Artists much harder to make money.
What, to you, have been your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievement is still being here and being able to sing Everyday I get up that’s my biggest achievement LOL.
What are you planning for the future?
That’s a question you need to ask my son I just do what he wants me to do.
What is the one thing you think the Music industry should know?
That I’m alive and I’m still here.
What is the one thing you would like to tell your Fans?
Thank you for all your love and support it means the world to me.
And I also had the honor of asking Heston a few things about his mother.
Who is Carrie Cleveland to you?
HAHAHA MAMA
As a son, what do YOU feel is your mothers greatest achievement?
To me my mom’s greatest achievement happened September 10th she performed in front of a live audience for the first time and years and she sounded beautiful she also did two different videos in one day 82 years old and still going.
What is the one thing you would like the person reading this, should take with them?
If you believe in something do it never give up on your dreams we are living Witness 45 years in the making Carrie Cleveland.
It is not often you get the chance to get to not just talk with the artist but also with a family member, and what a wonderful story they had to share.
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.
